Ally Skiing 2012

Warren made this great video of Ally skiing in Red Deer last month.  Notice the lack of snow in some places :)

Ally's 7th Birthday

We had Ally's 7th birthday party on her actual birthday!  She invited 11 kids to a movie night.  Originally we were going to have a little party but Ally felt she had to invite her whole class so no one's feelings would be hurt.  I didn't think everyone would actually come ;)  We had supper, cupcakes and popcorn while we watched the brand new Barbie Mermaid Movie II.  Warren borrowed a projector from work and displayed the movie on a wall in the bonus room. It felt like an actual theatre!

The kids were given tickets to "buy" candy at the concession stand.  My friend Dayna, brought her movie-style popcorn maker.

Steve Hall

Our good friend, Steve Hall, passed away on March 9th in a snowmobiling accident when he was caught in an avalanche.  His favourite song, Be Still My Soul, was played at his funeral. Steve's journal entries were included in the program.  He leaves behind his wife, Lara, and their kids, Kobee (7), Macee (5), Burke (3) and Saydee (13months).

Spring Dresses!

Grandma Shelley bought the girls beautiful spring dresses for their birthdays.  They love matching their outfits!  Ally's dress was sent with little white gloves that my Mom wore for her communion.  They are a little big but Ally loves to wear them.

Birthday Parties!!

I realize this seems a little unfair but Grace didn't get a "friend" party and we only took about 4 pictures.  We had gone skiing with some friends in Banff and arrived home late in the afternoon of her actual birthday. I bought a Dairy Queen cake and we gave her the presents we had bought.
The best part is that she didn't care.  She was happy with her party :)  Maybe I can convince Ally to have a family party next year.

But, we did have a family party! It was Sophie's 1st birthday the end of February so we decided to have a party for Sophie, Grace and Ally.  It was lots of fun!

Science Fair

Ally and her friend, Leah, decided to enter in the school Science Fair.  They did a study on, "What is the Difference Between A Rock and A Dinosaur Fossil.  Leah is very interested in dinosaurs and it was great for Ally to learn about something different.  Ally is excited to visit the Tyrell Museum this summer and look at all the fossils now that she knows so much about them!

Leah and Ally were chosen to show their project at the Mountainview Science Fair in February.

Grace's Story

(I was helping Ally write a story today when Grace decided she wanted to write a story as well.  Here is her story - in her own words, of course :)

The Candyland People

By Grace Van Orman

Once upon a time there was a fairy that loved to be a Candyland person.  She liked to fly around Candyland. And there was a princess who loved to walk around in the colors.  She loved the colors. And there was a gumdrop wizard. He took away the princesses favourite pink ice cream. Her Candyland unicorn friend grabbed it from him and gave it back to the Candyland princess. And there was a chocolate pudding hill. There were popscicles that the princess could fall over or trip on. She wanted to go sledding on it but she couldn’t because the Candyland supereaders picked out the popscicles so she could sled on the pudding hill and wouldn’t run into them.  So she went to the Rainbow King. The King told her not to eat the chocolate pudding because it had mud in it.  The superreaders saved the day by the fairy giving the princess the crown.
