House Update #6

Our house is moving along! The finishing carpenter is almost finished - he said he'll be back in a week :) We have doors, baseboards, casings on the windows and a first coat of paint.
I'm on the stairs taking this picture of Ally who is standing in the entrance to the living room.

This is the master bedroom. You can see a bit of the tray ceiling. The crown moulding and rope lights still need to be put on. We are going for a bright and cheery look :)

The girls are standing in front of the fireplace. It will be stone up to the ceiling. It's wired for sconces on either side. Warren has all the TV hook up wires threaded thru the wall.

Ally's posing in the kitchen. Behind her are the patio door and the door to the office.

Picture of dining nook.

I have no idea why this picture turned out so fuzzy! This is one of my favourite parts of the house. It's the mudroom coming in from the garage. Everyone has their own cubbie and electrical outlets (thanks Donovan and Amanda for doing that first so we could copy!) Hopefully we'll become a more organized family.

Halloween

Happy Halloween! A little late but better than never.

Warren and I had to dress up for the church Halloween party. He's a dirtbiker who got into an accident. He was a good sport about it and the costume didn't cost anything! I was his private nurse ;)

Ally has a hard time keeping her eyes open for pictures. The girls were, of course, fairy princesses. Ally loved the chance to wear alot of makeup!

The Ward Halloween Party was a lot of fun! They had a Trunk 'r Treat and then a family dance. Grace was in heaven! She loves to dress up and dance. On Sunday we hit the road to Blackfalds to a dinner party at our friends house, the Ellis's. It was a great way to spend Halloween and the girls were able to see some of their old 2nd Ward friends.

Sick, Sick, Sick

I feel we should win some kind of award for being the sickest family! It would make me feel better :)
It began about a week after Ally started school. She had a runny/stuffed nose and cough. She passed it to Grace who had a mild cold. It was then passed onto Warren who had a horrible chest cold and then me in the form of a sinus infection. Last night, Grace woke up screaming that her ear hurt. I took her to the ER and they gave her codeine and antibiotics for an ear infection.
Is it possible we all had a different virus or the same virus that affected us differently? We'll let the doctors in the family ponder that one. I thought it might be fun to gather all our prescriptions from the last 2 months. What a collection!

Public Skating!

This is Gracie skating. Actually, she's pretty good with one of those "skating trainer" push-things. She was actually very happy to crawl on the ice for a while. We had to drag both girls off the ice after skating was over!

Although Ally is a Canskate drop out, she still wants to go skating. One of the best things about Olds in the free public skating 3 times a week! Ally had hockey skates last year but this year she wanted skates like me. It's amazing how warm and comfortable figure skates are these days! I had the cutest video of Ally doing a spin but I cannot figure out how to load it.....

New House #5

So I know what you're thinking, the house looks the same but it now has shingles! It's also prepped for cement in the garage as well as almost done being insulated. I believe the plan is to put on the siding and possibly drywall next week. Our builder says we're still on track for December :)

Thanksgiving Weekend

Our Thanksgiving this year was, well, untraditional. The forecast called for beautiful weather so we made a day trip out to Hunter Valley on Saturday. We took the girls on a two hour trail ride. Ally rode with Warren and our friend, Drew, took Grace. The girls were troopers! We all enjoyed the beautiful mountains and even saw a deer.

Me - the little red bike is mine.

On Thanksgiving Monday we swam at the Collicut Centre in Red Deer and went for Chinese food at Sandy's. I did make pumpkin pie that we enjoyed later in the evening. I was initially very disappointed at the thought of Thanksgiving with no extended family but it turned out to be a great weekend :)
